The head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, inaugurated on Wednesday, January 29, the Calle 6 station of Line 4 of the Metrobús, located in the Agrícola Pantitlán neighborhood, in the Iztacalco municipality. This new station, built at the request of local residents, will benefit more than 25,000 inhabitants of the area. During the Casa por Casa program in October, where more than 4,000 requests were received, one of the highlighted requests was the need for public transport in the area.
In a quote, Clara Brugada stated: “There is nothing more than listening to the people; if we listen to the people and fulfill immediately, it is the best way to relate to the population, and that is the work we are doing.” The station has 100m² of construction, access stairs, bathrooms, and points to board the units.
Brugada also announced changes in the Agrícola Pantitlán neighborhood for its complete transformation. Complete street lighting will be carried out with the installation of three thousand 67 lights of 250 watts, turning two of the main avenues into Roads for Free and Safe Women. In addition, three avenues will be resurfaced and 303 streets will be intervened to improve lighting over an extension of 68 kilometers.
The local leader mentioned the possibility of creating a public space in Agrícola Pantitlán, an area lacking such spaces. Despite being the smallest municipality in size in Mexico City, Iztacalco is the most densely populated. Brugada Molina highlighted the ongoing negotiation with a private individual to explore the donation of 5,000 square meters of a 10,000-square-meter plot for the creation of a public space, thus providing a possible Utopia in the municipality.
